Vermont Medical & Recreational Marijuana DispensariesVermont has had a medical cannabis program since July 2004. The program did not at first give cannabis businesses the ability to offer cannabis to cardholders. It was not up until 2011 that Vermont fixed the problem, signing into law a series of policies which would support the licensing, oversight, and execution of Medical Marijuana Card Certification Evaluation cannabis dispensaries. Initially, the laws restricted Vermont to 4 medical dispensaries. Medical dispensaries were not permitted to offer more than 1,000 cardholders at a time with care. In 2014, the cardholder cap was eliminated and, though the variety of dispensaries remained unchanged, dispensary places were provided the authority to deliver cannabis or cannabis-infused items to cardholders and their main caregivers. In 2013, Vermont passed decriminalization laws making the possession of percentages of cannabis for anybody aged 21 and older a great rather than a criminal offense. And, in January 2018, the governor of Vermont signed HB511, legislating the ownership, development, and usage of cannabis for grownups aged 21 and over. Vermont became the very first state to legislate leisure cannabis usage through an act of legislature instead of citizen referendum. |
